It was a cold, blistery morning in Fargo on Sept. 20, but that didn’t stop dozens of “life runners” from gathering in front of the Cathedral of St. Mary in Fargo as they prepared to march the 2.7 miles to the Red River Women’s Clinic in Moorhead, Minn., the area’s only abortion-providing facility. Many of the volunteer runners were students from the St. Paul Newman Center at North Dakota State University in Fargo.
The event was the northern kick-off of the 17th annual nationwide Life Runners Across America Relay. They were joined by runners in San Francisco, New York City, and Austin, Texas in what is being called the largest pro-life event in the country. Relay runners will stop at various locations along their assigned routes that will eventually end on Oct. 25 at Benedictine College in Atchinson, Kan. near Kansas City. This was the second straight year the northern route began in Fargo.
Fargo’s “runners” marched across the river to Moorhead and prayed for the end to abortion in front of the new Women’s Care Center, which is a pro-life care center located across the street from the abortion facility.
