I’m excited to share the news that the official first “shovel” has been put in the ground for the new priest’s residence home. On May 15, dignitaries gathered just south of the Pastoral Center in Fargo to officially break the ground for the new home.
Because of the generosity of those who participated in the Living our Faith, Building our Future campaign, enough has been raised (pledged and collected) so far to begin the building process. It is very exciting times.
This is will be a wonderful living option for those who have given of themselves to a lifetime of service to the Diocese of Fargo. Currently, we have 37 retired clergy here in the diocese and 29 priests eligible for retirement over the next 10 years. This approximate 16,000 square foot residence (8 units) will provide a living option for those who may be retired or in active ministry and this home will provide an opportunity to live in communion with their brothers.
The residence will include eight individual apartments, complete with garages, and have communal living space containing kitchen, dining, laundry, guest, and office areas. This new community for those who helped grow ours is a great legacy of the Living our Faith, Building our Future campaign.
