The Diocese of Fargo’s seminarians marked a time of transition on the evening of Aug. 7 at Sts. Anne and Joachim Church in Fargo, where Bishop John Folda led vespers prayers and celebrated Mass. Vespers included the admission of candidates for the priesthood, Dalton Booth, Joseph Kern and Anthony Wanner. Though already seminarians, the decision to become a candidate represents their deepening confidence that God wants them to be a priest. Candidacy also marks their transition to their first theology year and graduate studies.
During Mass, Bishop Folda installed seminarians Kade Palmer and Matthew Samson as lectors. He also installed the seminarians Matthew Follis and William Gerads as acolytes. Lectors are specially tasked to proclaim scripture in liturgy. Acolytes are specially tasked to serve at the altar. Seminarians are installed as lectors before their second theology year and as acolytes before their third theology year. Please keep all the diocese’s seminarians in your prayers!
