Over the years, the Diocese of Fargo has attended the National March for Life in Washington, DC. At the moment, we have postponed that trip sponsored by the Diocese.
The Dobbs decision a little over a year ago reversed 50 years of legalized abortion under Roe v. Wade. This was a great victory and we are very thankful for this important decision for life. However, Dobbs did not outlaw abortion, it merely said that each state can decide their own abortion laws and regulations. Over the past year, states have become very divided on abortion. States like North Dakota have practically banned abortion while other states like Minnesota basically allow abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy. So we still march for many reasons.
We march because while the Dobbs decision was an important step for life, the culture war between the Culture of Life and the Culture of Death still rages.
We march because while the Dobbs decision has given us a tool for laws to end abortion, we need to win the battle for hearts and minds.
We march because no woman should feel that her only choice is to abort her unborn child
We march to show abortion-minded people everywhere that we will wrap the woman, her unborn child and the rest of her family in love and give them the real help and support they need to choose life.
