  Open to everyone!
  The Diocese of Fargo will offer courses that are open to anyone who desires to learn more about their faith. These courses will be held in-person at the Maryvale Retreat Center, Valley City. Additional locations may also be offered depending on enrollment.
  These courses are opportunities to learn more about the Catholic Faith without additional work or assignments. Each course consists of a two-hour Friday night session, and then a three-hour Saturday morning session.
  The Maryvale Retreat Center offers space for learning as well as a retreat setting to help each student grow in their spiritual life as they deepen their learning about the Catholic Faith. You can choose to stay overnight or commute. See pricing below.

  A correct understanding of the human person is essential for understanding human rights and dignity. This seminar will simply and clearly address the uniqueness of each person created in the image and likeness of God with infinite dignity and desire but with limited power and freedom. Based on Church teaching and especially the teaching of St. Pope John Paul II, we will use the acrostic I AM BELOVED to explain the Church’s teaching on the human person and apply it to human rights, dignity and Catholic morality. When seen in this light, the Church’s moral teaching makes perfect sense – not as something ”imposed” on us from the outside, but rather these timeless truths resonate with our deepest desires for goodness, truth and beauty. We find that the joy and peace that we seek comes from living a grace-filled life of virtue and frees us to be the children of God we were created to be. After taking this seminar, you will be better able to explain the Church’s teaching on a variety of moral issues and dialog with others with joy, clarity and charity.
